Eugene Kwame Marfo, professionally known in showbiz as Kuami Eugene, is a Ghanaian Highlife & Afro pop singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer.

Kuami Eugene was crowned the ultimate “Artiste Of The Year” on Saturday, August 29th, 2020, at the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

His claim to fame was the outstanding performances he dished out during his participation in the 2016 MTN Hitmaker reality show – Season 5.

The Rockstar is best known for major hits like “Wish Me Well”, “Angela”, and “Obiaato”.

He is signed to Lynx Entertainment Record Label — owned by Richie Mensah — which also has award-winning artiste like KiDi, and formerly Asem, MzVee, and DopeNation.

Kuami Eugene was born to Mr Alex and Madam Juliana Marfo in Akim Oda in the Eastern part of Ghana.

His grandma, who he refers to as Maame, is alive and kicking back in his hometown, Akim Oda.

The “Obiaato” author grew up with his family at Fadama — one of the noisiest and densely populated slums in Accra.

The Rockstar currently lives at Achimota in Accra where he stays in a rented two-bedroom apartment.

Kuami Eugene SHS Education: a school dropout?

Kuami Eugene attended Salvation Army Senior High school in Akim – Wenchi in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The Rockstar sadly skipped school for two (2) good months just to study the making of music with someone he barely knew at the time in a studio located in the Eastern Region without informing anybody including his mother.

Kuami Eugene unfortunately was dropped out of school at age 16 whilst in SHS 2 when the authorities found out that he had sneaked out of school for weeks.

The “Obiaato” hitmaker, Kuami Eugene had long revealed in some interviews that he wasn’t into any relationship with anyone except his music career.

Music Career, 2016 MTN Hitmaker season 5

Kuami Eugene started singing at an early age in church and also learnt how to play musical instruments including the drums, keyboard, and guitar.

In 2016, The Rocstar joined the MTN Hitmaker reality show Season 5 and gave his best throughout the competition.

Kuami Eugene finished third (or was placed as the second-runner up) out of the four finalists with Kurl Songx emerging as the ultimate winner of the 2016 MTN Hitmaker season 5.

The Rockstar was signed to Lynx Entertainment owned by Richie Mensah shortly after the MTN Hitmaker competition.

In 2017, Kuami Eugene released “Angela” which reached one million views on Youtube in a short time — a feat he is the first artiste of the Lynx Entertainment label to achieve that.

Kuami Eugene has performed on big stages including Rapperholic Concert by BET award winner Sarkodie; the 2017 Ghana Music Honours Edition; December to Remember in 2017; S Concert in 2017; and the 61st Ghana Independence Celebration Show at Indigo 02 in London.

Kuami Eugene: The Songwriter & Record Producer

Kuami Eugene as a musician has given his fans, hits upon hits. His next album which is titled “Son Of Africa” will soon be released.

As a songwriter, Kuami Eugene has written songs for the likes of Okyeame Kwame (Yeeko), Becca, Mzvee, Sista Afia, among others.

The Rockstar as a record producer has produced hits like “Rewind” for MzVee featuring himself (Kuami Eugene), and also co-produced his popular “Wish Me Well” with Willisbeatz.

He was also featured on “Adwenfi” by DJ Vyruski alongside the African king of dancehall, Shatta Wale.

Another hit song Kuami Eugene was featured on was “Never Carry Last” by DJ Vyrusky featuring Mayorkun of Nigeria.

At the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, the Rockstar had the rarest opportunity to be crowned as the next King of Highlife music by no mean a person than Highlife music legend, Amakye Dede.
