Who is Gyakie in Ghana?

Born Jackeline Acheampong, Gyakie is a Ghanaian highlife and afro-fusion singer, songwriter, and performer.

The hottest Ghanaian songstress is also a rapper who even raps better than most of her male counterparts in the rap game.

Jackeline Acheampong is the daughter of the legendary Ghanaian Highlife musician, Ernest Owoahene Nana Acheampong aka ‘Champion Lover Boy‘ who is known famously for his super mega hit song in the 90s, “Nanka 3b3 Y3 D3n”.

Gyakie became a household name after her single,”Forvever” became a major hit both locally and internationally.

Her favourite and top musicians across the globe include the likes of Rihanna, Asa, Efya, and Burna Boy.

Gyakie’s biggest fear is waking up one day and realizing that her “powerful voice” is gone for good.

The “Forever” hitmaker and her team, Flip The Music recently inked an international deal with Sony Music Entertainment, RCA Records UK and Sony Music Africa.

Jackeline Acheampong was born to Highlife legend, Ernest ‘Owoahene’ Nana Acheampong and Mariam in Kumasi, Ashanti Region of Ghana.

Her younger brother, Justin is also likely to hit us with good music anytime soon.

She originally hails from Abuakwa in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, and was born and raised at Bomso — a surburb of Kumasi.

Who is the father of Gyakie?

Gyakie’s father, Nana Acheampong aka ‘Champion Lover Boy’, is one-half of the famous Lumba Brothers who popularized Burger-highlife in the early 90s.

The other half of the Lumba Brothers is the lengendary highlife musician, Charles Kojo Fosu who is popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

Senior High School, University Education

Gyakie went to Mizpah Vine Ark (MVAS) Junior High School located at Nsenie-Kentinkrono, near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

Jackeline Acheampong continued to T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (Real Amass) located close to the Baba Yara (Kumasi) Sports Stadium in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

Gyakie is currently studying International Business as an undergraduate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

The ‘Forever’ hitmaker will be completing her university course in November this year, 2021.

Boyfriend

Is Gyakie a virgin?

Jackie’s recent claim of being a vir.gin has been called into question by one twitter user identified as Kofi Billo.

It all began after a presenter questioned Gyakie’s vir.ginity status in an interview. The songstress in her answer, stated categorically that she is still a vir.gin at age 22.

However, a Twitter user identified as Kofi Billo who claims to know Gyakie from her Senior high school days at Real AMASS in Kumasi, tweeted with the allegation that Gyakie is not a vir.gin as she claims.

According to the Twitter user, his school father back in the day at Real AMASS in Kumasi used to ‘do’ it with Gyakie.

Kofi Billo tweeted: “I watched your interview on tv and when the host asked u, ‘are you a vir.gin’ u replied ‘yes’ meanwhile my school father was the one who used to knock you down in AMASS Ksi.”

Music Career

Gyakie started her music career very early and at age 8, she had started joining her father during his studio sessions to learn about the making of music.

With her father’s rich music background, it didn’t take Gyakie long to start perfecting the art of singing.

In 2019, Gyakie’s music career professionally took off when she met a Nigerian music producer known as Sosa on the campus of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

After Sosa had produced a couple of beats for her, Gyakie fell in love with one particular beat and that is how the journey started.

In February 2019, Gyakie released her first single,” Love is Pretty” — a cool reggae love song.

The songstress followed it up with the release of the popular song, “Never like this” which shot her to stardom and has so far gained over 1million views on Youtube.

On March 13th, 2020, Gyakie released another single, “Sor Mi Mu” which features Highlife musician Bisa Kdei and has got fans reacting with over four thousand likes on youtube so far.

In August 2020, Gyakie dropped her first 5-track Extended Play (EP) with the title, ‘SEED’.

The “Forever” song on the Seed EP has enjoyed massive airplay in Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria. It has also topped music charts such Billboard’s Top Triller Global and Shazam’s Top 200 charts.

On March 25th, 2021, Gyakie released the much anticipated remix version of ‘Forever’ with Nigerian singer, Omah Lay.

On March 25th, 2021, Gyakie officially premiered the much-anticipated “Forever Remx” which features one of Nigeria’s biggest acts, Omah Lay.

According to Gyakie, the addition of Omah Lay’s verse on the “Forever Remix” track made the song complete as the original “Forever” song was only composed and performed from a woman’s perspective.

Gyakie signs international deal with Sony Music Entertainment & RCA Records UK

The ‘Forever’ hitmaker’s career got a huge boost when her team, Flip The Music this year, 2021, signed an international record deal with Sony Music Entertainment, RCA Records UK and Sony Music Africa.

After the singning, RCA UK took to its Instagram page to announce its new deal to the world: “Incoming! Gyakie is now part of the RCA UK family!”

“I am excited to join RCA/Sony Music International with my label Flip the Music on my journey to become a global superstar,” Gyakie told Ghana-based music channel, 4syte TV.

Rebecca ‘sings’ Forever to celebrate President Akufo-Addo

Of all the love songs performed by Ghanaian musicians, it was Gyakie’s ‘Forever’ mega hit song that came to mind when the first lady of Ghana, Mama Rebecca Akufo-Addo urgently and romantically needed to ‘sing’ to celebrate the 77th birthday of her husband, President Nana Addo Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Not only did this romantic gesture by Mama Rebecca receive nationwide praise, it also gave Gyakie’s ’Forever’ song another fresh of breath.

She wrote on her Instagram page: ”Happy Birthday Mr. President. My mind dey for you.”
