Former president John Dramani Mahama is the latest addition to the group of persons who have made mockery of the Akufo-Addo-led government for announcing a possible c0up it claims it has ab0rted in Ghana.

Mr Mahama chipped in this comic relief in a speech he gave at the 13th Annual Residential Congress of the National Health Students Association at Korle-bu on Thursday September 26th, 2019.

Referring to the many trolls on social media by some Ghanaians about the said ab0rted cOup d’état, he said this shows why Ghanaians have a great sense of humour.

“There was this challenge going on of people showing possible weapons that can be used in a coup d’etat.
“There was this one that was very intriguing because this was the wooden spatula that is used to stir ‘banku’ popularly called ‘Bankuta’….and I said well, possibly; that can be used to hit the guy at wherever you are going to attack, he may fall unconscious,” he jokingly said.

He added that he never knew that ‘Bentoa’ (enema bulb syringe) could ever be used to stage a c0up in Ghana.

The mockery and trivialization on social media by some Ghanaians come after information minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah had announced that a joint security operation had led to the retrieval of several arms, explosive devices and ammunition from locations in Accra and Kpone-Bawaleshie in Dodowa.

According to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, one medical doctor, Frederick Yao Mac-Palm and his accomplices Dornyah “Ezor” Kafui (a local weapon manufacturer) and Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC) a freight manager who are currently before a law court, had for the past 15 months been planning to destabilize the country.

Attempts to trivialize the serious issue by some Ghanaians is based on the scanty information and evidence government has so far provided.
