Stonebwoy vs Shatta Wale Controversy
On Saturday, May 18th, 2019, the two biggest dancehall rivals in Ghana created a mortal-kombat-like scene during the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
It all started when, after Stonebwoy had received his award for “Reggae/Dancehall Artiste Of The Year” from ace presenter Abeiku Santana, his rival Shatta Wale and his die-hard supporters besieged the stage.
Stonebwoy in his reaction pulled what looked like a gun on stage in a bid to protect himself just in case anything untoward happened.
Both Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were later arrested and detained the following day, and made to appear in court where they pleaded not guilty to their respective charges after which they were granted a bail of GH¢50,000 each.
The organizers of the awards, Charterhouse announced in a press conference that they had stripped the awards the two picked on the night, and were also indefinitely banned from the award scheme.
