Confirmed news Yours Truly, BieGyaNation.Com, has picked indicates that the legendary Ghanaian highlife musician, Nana Kwame Ampadu has died.

The Highlife Legend is reported to have passed on in the early hours of today, Tuesday, September 28th, 2021, at the University of Ghana, Legon hospital in Accra.

The cause of his death is not readily known. He is said to have been sick for a while.

According to the grandson who spoke to DJ Andy Dosty on Hitz FM’s Daybreak program, Nana Kwame Ampadu died at 5;24AM this morning, Tuesday, September 28th, 2021.

He continued that a family meeting was underway following the demise of the King of Highlife music.

Nana Ampadu hails from Obo-Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The Ghanaian musician is credited with composing over 800 songs.

Nana formed the “African Brothers Band” in 1963 with Eddie Donker.

The band with him released Ebi Te Yie (some people live good life whilst others don’t) which the then government, National Liberation Council saw as a critique of its administration.

In 1973 he won a nationwide competition to be crowned the Odwontofoohene(Singer-In-Chief).
