Known in private life as Deborah Vanessa Owusu-Bonsu, Sister Deborah (Derby) is a Ghanaian-Romanian model, singer, rapper, academic, graphic artist, and TV presenter.

Deborah Vanessa is the sister of controversial Ghanaian-Romanian musician, Wanlov the Kubolor.

In 2012, Sister Derby instantaneously gained international media attention when she released her worldwide hit “Uncle Obama (I like the size of your banana)” which featured FOKN Bois (Wanlov the Kubolor & Mensah).

Sister Derby’s mother, Mrs Felicia Owusu-Bonsu was born on December 22nd, 1953.

Madam Felicia Owusu-Bonsu comes from Ploiesti — a city of about 60 kilometres to the North of the capital of Romania which is Bucharest.

Her “Uncle Obama” track instantly put her in the limelight catching the attention of international media gurus like CNN and BBC.

She was interviewed on CNN (Cable News Network) and also had a full feature on BBC in January 2013.

Sister Deborah earned a spot to perform at the Glastonbury Festival with her “Uncle Obama” song in Pilton, Somerset, in England in 2013.
